Little Things You Can Do Right Now To Help Out The USPS.

The U.S. Postal Service has been at the sharp end of the stick in recent weeks. A hostile Postmaster General and the threat of withholding funding by the Trump Administration has made for an uncertain future for the 245-year-old institution. Now is a really good time to spread a little love (and some $$) to the USPS.

The Postal Service is entirely self-funded, receiving no tax dollars. This means they rely on the sales of postage, products and services. They employ about a half million people, including nearly 100,000 veterans. The service has been struggling in recent years, due in large part to the 2006 mandate that requires it to pre-fund retiree health care costs 75 years in advance, not to mention that so much communication and business is conducted electronically now. Their woes are compounded by the fact that many businesses that normally rely on the USPS have now closed or reduced their operations due to Covid-19.

Head over to the USPS online store and stock up. Stamps, envelopes, business supplies, philatelic collectibles, and some cool merch. Get a kid interested in stamp collecting. Buy some gifts for family and friends. I put in an order yesterday morning to resupply my home office with flat rate envelopes and a few cool books of stamps--National Parks, and one with frogs. Yes, the USPS has stamps honoring frogs. And it's all shipped right to your mailbox. You need this stuff anyway. Get yours today.
